Back in March a study of methane leakage in New York City was released. Commissioned by Damascus Citizens for Sustainability and performed by Gas Safety, the study graphically depicted the leakage of methane from the city’s antiquated natural gas pipe infrastructure. The overall estimate for methane emissions in New York City was 8.6 billion cubic feet per year.
This startling report may not have hit the big time news media, but it did reach a group of artists. They have taken this data and made graphic representations of the implications for New York City residents.
Now don’t go running out to buy methane and radon detectors for your children’s sneakers. Instead call Cuomo and say it loud and clear: No Fracking in New York 518-474-8390
